The Journal of Mathematics, Engineering, and Technological Innovation (JMETI) is an open-access, peer-reviewed electronic journal of international scope. This statement serves to elucidate the ethical conduct expected from all individuals engaged in the publication process of articles within this journal, encompassing the author, the editor-in-chief, the editorial board, the peer reviewers, and the publisher. The existence of ethical standards for publication serves to maintain the reliability and excellence of scientific research publications, build public trust in scientific discoveries, and ensure that researchers are credited for their contributions and creative concepts. These ethical guidelines are designed to maintain the integrity, transparency, and credibility inherent in academic research. Fundamental aspects involve the appropriate acknowledgment of authorship, the elimination of plagiarism, the accurate presentation of research outcomes, and the disclosure of any potential conflicts of interest. The roles of editors and reviewers are vital in maintaining these standards by scrutinizing submission quality and validity, while publishers hold the responsibility of fostering a fair and ethical publishing environment. This journal adheres to a stringent Code of Conduct designed to uphold the highest standards of publication ethics and is dedicated to following the best practices in research publication.
Practices such as double submission, plagiarism, data fabrication and falsification, incorrect author contribution or attribution, and citation manipulation are all considered to be violations of research integrity. Any concerns regarding this type of misconduct will be thoroughly examined by the editorial team. Unexplained occurrences may result in the rejection of the manuscript or the retraction of the published article.
Double Submission
Manuscripts determined to have been published in other contexts, which include the use of data from another publication or the re-publication of an article in another language, as well as those under review at different journals, will be subject to sanctions for duplicate submission. When authors utilize their own previously published materials or works that are currently under review as a foundation for a submitted manuscript, it is essential for them to cite the earlier work. Additionally, they should clarify how the submitted manuscript presents new contributions that extend beyond the scope of the prior work.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is considered a grave offense; therefore, this journal is dedicated to publishing exclusively original content in all its articles. Manuscripts identified as containing plagiarized content from works by other authors, regardless of their publication status, will face consequences for plagiarism. Thus, it is imperative that all information and content obtained from external sources is properly acknowledged, cited, and incorporated into the "References" section. Immediate rejection will occur if there is clear evidence of plagiarism, specifically the use of extensive portions of copied text or data. Should there be any similarity in short phrases, a notification will be issued to the authors, granting them the chance to clarify or to make necessary revisions. If plagiarism is found during the review process, whether reported by the reviewers or detected by other methods, all subsequent processes will be instantly put on hold. The editor-in-chief will seek clarification from the authors, and a failure to provide a satisfactory explanation will result in a decision to reject the submission. If misconduct is clearly established following publication, the article will be withdrawn from the issue. All authors will face retraction, and the matter will be officially communicated on the journal's page and website at the earliest opportunity.
Data Fabrication and Falsification
Data fabrication refers to the act of inventing data or findings and declaring them to be accurate. For example, a researcher might state that they have executed a laboratory experiment when, in truth, they have not. Data falsification refers to the act of altering data or research materials to convey a false impression. For instance, a researcher could change or omit particular data points, or alter images to influence the results. Manuscripts that are discovered to contain fabricated or falsified experimental results, including any manipulation of images, will be subject to penalties for data fabrication and falsification.
Incorrect Author Contribution or Attribution
It is essential that all authors mentioned have contributed significantly to the scientific research in the manuscript and have given their approval to all claims included. Acknowledge all individuals by a comprehensive list who have made noteworthy scientific contributions to that research, encompassing students and laboratory technicians.
Citation Manipulation
Citation manipulation is characterized by the addition of references to a scholarly document for the purpose of artificially increasing citation numbers, rather than to genuinely contribute to the academic discourse. This practice is deemed unethical and constitutes a form of academic misconduct. Any submitted manuscripts that are determined to include citations intended primarily to enhance the citation metrics of a specific author or to promote articles from a certain journal will face penalties for citation manipulation.
Duties of Editors
The evaluation of submitted manuscripts by editors is conducted strictly on their academic value and their relevance to the journal's aims, without consideration of the author's race, sexual orientation, gender, religious beliefs, citizenship, ethnic origin, or political views. The decisions related to editing and publishing are solely governed by the internal policies of the journal, without any influence from governmental bodies or external agencies. The Editor-in-Chief possesses complete control over all editorial material published in the journal, as well as the schedule for its release. The editors and editorial team shall refrain from revealing any details regarding a submitted manuscript to individuals other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial consultants, and the publisher, as required. Unpublished materials included in a submitted manuscript may not be utilized in the personal research of an Editor without obtaining explicit written consent from the authors. Editors are required to maintain the confidentiality of any privileged information or ideas obtained during the handling of manuscripts and are prohibited from using such information for personal advantage. Editors will avoid taking on the editorial role for manuscripts that present conflicts of interest due to financial, competitive, collaborative, or other associations with any authors, companies, or organizations linked to the papers. In such cases, they will assign the manuscript to another member of the board for review. Evaluations must be conducted impartially, and recommendations should be expressed clearly along with justifications, enabling authors to enhance their manuscripts effectively. It is important to avoid any form of personal criticism towards the authors, as such behavior is considered inappropriate. Referees ought to communicate their opinions in a clear manner, providing suitable and sound reasoning to back their statements. The editors are responsible for ensuring that all manuscripts submitted for consideration are reviewed by at least two experts in that field during the peer-review process. The editor of the journal holds the responsibility of deciding which submitted manuscripts are suitable for publication. The editor is required to comply with the policies of the editorial board of the journal and is subject to the legal standards that govern issues such as libel, copyright violations, and plagiarism. In the process of making this decision, the handling editor may seek the counsel of other editors or reviewers. Editors will implement appropriate actions when ethical issues are brought to their attention concerning a submitted manuscript or an already published paper. Each allegation of unethical publishing behavior will be scrutinized, irrespective of the time elapsed since the publication. The collaboration between editors and reviewers is essential to ensuring the quality control of published articles. The editorial board is required to proactively identify the perfect reviewers for each manuscript and engage in timely communication with the authors to rectify issues, clarify points, and deliver feedback. The editorial team prioritizes new scientific discoveries, originality, clarity, ethical integrity, validity, and relevance to the journal's scope as essential criteria for publication acceptance.
Duties of Peer Reviewers
Peer review supports editors in their decision-making processes and, through communication with authors, can help enhance the quality of their manuscripts. Peer review serves as a fundamental element of formal academic discourse and is integral to the pursuit of scientific knowledge. It is the responsibility of reviewers to examine manuscripts that correspond to their specialized knowledge and to provide thorough evaluations within an appropriate timeframe. An invited referee who considers themselves unqualified to evaluate the research detailed in a manuscript, or who recognizes that a prompt review is unfeasible, must immediately communicate this to the editors and decline the review invitation, enabling the editors to seek other reviewers. It is the responsibility of peer reviewers to offer recommendations to the Journal of Mathematics, Engineering, and Technological Innovation (JMETI) regarding the quality and scientific accuracy of the submitted manuscript. The review shall be conducted without any conflict of interest and without any knowledge of the identities of the authors. Recommendations and feedback must be delivered in a professional and constructive manner, avoiding any hostile language, derogatory remarks, or personal comments. Direct communication between reviewers and authors during the peer-review process is strictly forbidden, as it is deemed a serious form of misconduct. All manuscripts submitted for review are considered confidential and should be handled accordingly. They must not be shared or discussed with any individuals unless explicitly permitted by the Editor-in-Chief, who will only grant such permission in rare and specific cases. This is also applicable to invited reviewers who choose to decline the invitation to review. An objective approach should be taken in conducting reviews, with observations articulated in a clear manner and accompanied by supporting arguments, which will assist authors in enhancing their manuscripts. Personal critiques directed at the authors are deemed inappropriate. It is essential for reviewers to highlight significant published studies that have not been referenced by the authors. Any observation, derivation, or argument presented in earlier publications must be accompanied by the appropriate citation. Reviewers must communicate to the editors any discernible similarities or resemblances between the manuscript under review and any other manuscripts, whether they are published or unpublished, that they are familiar with. Confidentiality must be maintained regarding information or concepts acquired through peer review, and such knowledge should not be exploited for individual benefit. Reviewers must avoid reviewing manuscripts in cases where they have a conflict of interest arising from financial, collaborative, competitive, or other connections with any authors, companies, or organizations related to the submission.
Duties of Authors
Authors are required to understand and familiarize themselves with the submission procedures and ethical guidelines established by the journal. The authors should specify clear research aims and outline a methodology that facilitates the confirmation of findings by other researchers. Additionally, they are required to provide transparent results and to conduct an unbiased discussion, ensuring that data manipulation is absent. Authors are required to guarantee that their submissions consist of wholly original content. If they reference the writings or ideas of others, it is important that they provide proper citations or quotations. Manuscripts that are under consideration by any other journal must not be submitted by authors, as this will result in immediate rejection. Authors might be required to submit the raw data associated with their study alongside the manuscript for editorial evaluation and should be ready to make the data accessible to the public when possible. Authors should take measures to ensure that the data is accessible to other qualified professionals for a period of at least three years following publication, as long as the confidentiality of participants is preserved and legal rights associated with proprietary data do not hinder its availability. It is essential to consistently give appropriate credit to the contributions of others. Authors are encouraged to reference publications that have significantly influenced the characterization of the work being reported. Authorship ought to be limited to individuals who have significantly contributed to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study being reported. Individuals who have significantly contributed to the work should be recognized as co-authors. Those who have engaged in specific substantive elements of the research project ought to be acknowledged in a separate Acknowledgement section. The corresponding author is responsible for verifying that the author list of the manuscript includes all suitable co-authors while excluding any inappropriate ones. Furthermore, it is essential that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the paper and have consented to its submission for publication. Authors are required to disclose any financial or other substantial conflicts of interest in their manuscript that may be perceived as influencing the results or their interpretation. All financial support sources related to the project must be fully disclosed. In cases where the work entails the use of chemicals, procedures, or equipment that present any unusual hazards, it is imperative for the authors to explicitly identify these risks within the manuscript. In cases where the research involves animals or human subjects, it is imperative that the authors confirm that all procedures adhere to applicable laws and institutional regulations and that the relevant institutional committee has granted their approval. The manuscript must include a statement reflecting this compliance. Authors are required to include a statement in the manuscript confirming that informed consent was acquired for any experimentation involving human participants. The privacy rights of individuals participating in research must consistently be upheld. It is the duty of authors to promptly inform the journal's editors or publisher when they uncover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work and to collaborate with them in either correcting the paper through an erratum or retracting it. When the editors or publisher are alerted by a third party to the presence of a significant error or inaccuracy in a published work, it becomes the authors' duty to promptly address the issue by correcting or retracting the paper, or furnish the journal editors with proof of the paper's accuracy.
Duties of the Publisher
In instances of suspected or confirmed scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication, or plagiarism, the publisher, in conjunction with the editors, will implement all necessary actions to investigate the matter and rectify the article in question. This requires the swift dissemination of clarification, or, in the most critical instances, the withdrawal of the affected publication. The publisher and the editors are required to undertake reasonable initiatives to identify and obstruct the publication of papers that are associated with research misconduct. They must also ensure that they do not, in any situation, endorse such misconduct or knowingly allow it to transpire. The publisher is resolutely focused on the continuous availability and preservation of academic research, guaranteeing accessibility through partnerships with organizations and the upkeep of its own digital archive. The Publisher and the Journal maintain a policy of non-discrimination, ensuring that no individual is treated unfairly based on color, age, religion, creed, disability, veteran status, marital status, national origin, gender, genetic predisposition, race, or carrier status, or sexual orientation in their publishing programs, services, and activities.
